Instagram stories will disappear within 24 hours of publishing them. To keep these memories, you can download Instagram stories to your Android phone, iPhone, or PC.

In this article, I will show you 5 different ways to download Instagram stories whether they are uploaded by you or anyone. No matter what device you use, you can find at least 2 working methods, which are absolutely easy to operate. Of course, you can also use these ways to view Instagram stories anonymously.

Online Instagram Stories Downloader

No matter your device, you can use Online Instagram Stories Downloader to download Instagram stories with music.  Many free online tools can do such a thing.

The StorySaver website is one of them. It enables you to view and download Instagram stories whether it is a video or photo.

You just need to input the username of the Instagram user who uploaded the story in the search box of StorySaver website. Instantly you will be able to see all stories published by this user within 24 hours.

The only downside of this method is that it only works with public accounts. If you want to download Instagram stories of a private account, you have to check other methods addressed in this article.

For iOS 13 or new versions, you can use Safari, which has Download Manager, to download files online. If you are using iOS 12 or previous versions, you can download the Documents app from Appstore to download files on iPhone.

Download Instagram Story with Siri Shortcuts

For iOS users, you don’t need to download another app because you probably already have the Shortcuts app. Shortcuts app is a built-in automation app for iOS provided by Apple. Within Shortcuts, you can create all kinds of tasks and each task is called a shortcut.

I have made a shortcut, Instagram Story Viewer, to view and download Instagram stories. You can copy the Instagram profile link or enter the Instagram username to run this shortcut. It will bring all the story images or videos available and you can tap the Share button to save them to your Photo Library or Files.

If you get the messaging saying something about untrusted shortcuts, that means you have not added any shortcuts from the iCloud shortcuts link. You need to create a shortcut (you can add any actions there) and run it once. After that, go to Settings > Shortcuts and toggle on the option “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts”.

Download Instagram Story with a Web Browser Extension

Story Saver is an extension for Google Chrome browser that allows you to save Instagram stories directly to your computer. After installing it in your browser, you can access Instagram stories on your desktop easily and download any of the stories available.

As you can see from the screenshot, there is also a Download All button to download all the stories available.

If you use Firefox, then you can use StoriesWatcher, which works the same. It will allow you to view and download the stories without logging in. Well, you need to log in to download private Instagram videos and pictures in Chrome or Firefox.

Instagram Story Downloader App for Windows and Mac

A dedicated app is worth having if you need to download Instagram stories constantly. 4K Stogram is a free tool to download anything from Instagram.

Within the app, you need to enter your Instagram account ID and password to get started. Once logged in, you can also search for the username to find a specific user quickly and find all the active stories. Once you see the stories, you will have the option to save Instagram stories on your PC or Mac.

If you are using iOS, there is also a similar app that works just like this. The app is called Story Reposter. It allows you to save it on your iPhone or iPad and repost it to your Instagram feed.

Step 2. Right click on any blank space and select Inspect. You can also press F12 on Windows or Cmd + Opt +J on Mac.

Step 3. Click on the Toggle device toolbar as the screenshot below and then you can view all the Stories available on your computer web browser.

Step 4. Click to view any of the stories that you want to download.

Step 5. From the Developer Tools, click on the IMG tab if the story is a photo or click on Media if the story is a video.

Step 6. Then you will see the download link of the story. You just need to copy the link and open it in a new tab to save the story. This way, you can also save a private Instagram story.

Conclusion

That’s all the 5 ways to download Instagram stories on Android, iOS, Windows, or macOS. The first 2 methods only work with public accounts. As you can see, you don’t even need extra tools to get it done. For me, I prefer the Shortcuts option because I use my iPhone a lot.
