I find YouTube to be the best place to find music that I like. After I played some music videos on YouTube, I see a few recommended Mix palylists the next time I open YouTube. I like most of the songs in the Mix playlists.

I have created a few YouTube playlists. Since I prefer Spotify to listen to music, I want to convert YouTube playlist to Spotify. After some research, I found it to be way easier than I expected. There are 3 different approaches that you can try and all of them are totally free.

No matter what device you use, you will find a perfect solution here.

Method 1: YouTube to Spotify Siri Shortcuts

Shortusts is an iOS app developed by Apple. If you use an iOS device and you don’t trust other services with your accounts, then this shortcuts method is the best one for you.

However, it requires some setup work. If you have read my previous post about transferring Apple Music playlist to Spotify, then you will the process and you don’t have to do it again. After installing Shortcuts app, you can follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1. Get the YouTube Playlist to Spotify shortcut on your iPhone or iPad. If your Mac is running macOS 12 or later versions, it should also work on Mac.

Step 2. Copy the YouTube Playlist URL and run this shortcut. You can also run it from YouTube App Share Sheet.

Step 3. When It prompts you to a Safari web page, log in to Spotify as instructed in the shortcut.

Step 4. Copy the Spotify Authorization Code and continue.

Step 5. It will load all the songs in the playlist, and you can uncheck any when needed.

Step 6. Select a Playlist to start transferring the YouTube playlist to Spotify.

Unlike the older version, you don’t need to get the Spotify Token Shortcut. You only need to log in to Spotify once and start to transfer unlimited song. If you like this method, you can also get another shortcut to Transfer Spotify to YouTube. You can also refer to the video to see how it works.

Since iOS 13, Apple has introduced the Shortcuts Automation feature. You can create an automation task to run this shortcut automatically. You can refer to this post about iOS Shortcuts Automation.

If you don’t want to go through all these to set up a shortcut, no problem. Keep reading and there are other methods that can help you move YouTube playlist to Spotify easily.

Method 2: Import YouTube Playlist to Spotify with a Dedicated App

For iOS users, you can download the free app Songshift from AppStore. It allows you to transfer unlimited songs between 2 music services. For those who want to connect more music services and transfer playlists across different platforms, there are in-app purchase options.

It supports many music platforms including Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora, Discogs, Lost.fm, and Napster.

If you don’t upgrade to the paid version, you can connect only two music streaming services at a time. It is enough for you to move YouTube playlist to Spotify. When you want to transfer playlist to different service, you can always disconnect one and connect another.

If you use an Android phone, then you can use Stamp, which also comes with a free version. Unlike Songshift,  the free version of Stamp only allows you to convert 10 songs from a playlist.

I actually don’t recommend this application, but that’s the only free app that I have found on Android. The application works worse than most of the web application. Sometimes, you will be redirected to a web browser to log in your account. If you don’t like this, you can use the next method, which I like the most.

Method 3: Sync YouTube Playlist to Spotify Automatically

The third method is a web application that is totally free without limitations. The best part? It not only allows you to transfer playlists but also helps you sync playlist among different platforms. When you edit a playlist, the changes will also be applied on other music services connected to this free online tool.

All you need to do is just go to the TuneMyMusic website. Then you can import the YouTube playlist via playlist link. Once the playlist loaded, you can sign in to your Spotify account. You only need to create an account if you want to use the Sync feature.

After you authorize TuneMyMusic with your Spotify access, you can click PUBLISH AND SYNC and then you are all set. When you add a track to your YouTube playlist, the track will also be added to your Spotify playlist.

You can also add other music services to TuneMyMusic, so it will sync along with other music services like Deezer, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Napster, Qobuz, etc.

Conclusion

That’s all the three ways that you can use to transfer YouTube playlists to Spotify. Whether you use iOS, Android, Windows, Linux, or ChromeOS, you should find a solution to transfer music between two music services. Do you have a  better way to do this trick? Let us know in the comments.
