There are various conventional methods to watch YouTube without Ads. Of course, you can pay for the YouTube Premium membership. If that’s not an option, I have tested 6 ways to block YouTube ads for free. No matter what devices you use to watch YouTube videos, you can find a method to enjoy ad-free YouTube videos.

Remove YouTube Ads on Android Phone

NewPipe is a YouTube Client app for Android, which is open source. Besides removing YouTube ads, it allows you to download any YouTube videos on your phone. The only problem is that it does not allow you to log in with your YouTube account. Luckily, it allows you to import all your subscription channels, so it also shows you your YouTube feeds.

You can also install the SmartTube Next TV app on your Android phone if you don’t mind watching videos in landscape always. Besides that, it works very great as an ad-free YouTube app for Android phones.

Alternatively, you can use YouTube Revanced, another free app to watch YouTube without Ads. It allows you to log in to your YouTube account and you can set a sleep timer while watching YouTube videos. What’s better, it allows background playback and returns YouTube dislike count.

Block YouTube Ads with Extensions

Once you installed that Adblock add-on on your Firefox web browser, you can also watch YouTube without ads on your PC. If you prefer Chrome, then you can install this extension Fair AdBlocker for Chrome.

The Firefox add-on has not let me down for once, but the Chrome extension, sometimes, failed, which is understandable because Google certainly does not like such extensions. Alternatively, you can also use Tampermonkey scripts to block YouTube ads on Chrome, Safari, or other web browsers.

You need to first install the Tampermonkey extension from Chrome Web Store and then search and add a YouTube ads blocker user script. In addition, you can also use Tampermonkey scripts on Android or iOS.

YouTube Player App without Ads for Computer

Private YouTube Client for Windows and Mac

If you want an even better watching experience, I recommend you get this open-source program, FreeTube. It is a private YouTube client app that allows you to watch videos without ads. It is available on Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, etc.

In addition, FreeTube enables you to enjoy YouTube without being tracked. It allows you to create a profile without a YouTube account. With this profile, you can subscribe to channels and build playlists. You can even use it to download 4K YouTube videos with audio.

FreeTube can also be used to bypass YouTube age restriction. The only problem is that you can watch private videos with FreeTube.

Watch YouTube without Ads on iPhone

For iOS devices, there is a Firefox Focus web browser that better protects your privacy and blocks any ads including YouTube ads. If you prefer using the Safari web browser, you can go to Settings > Safari > Content Blockers and select Firefox from there. Then you can use Safari to watch YouTube videos without Ads.

If you prefer the YouTube app experience, then you can get the uYouPlus app from GitHub. It allows you to sign in and watch YouTube videos without ads. You can also enable the option to return YouTube dislike count.

Obviously, this app is not available in App Store. To work this around, you can download the IPA and install the IPA on iPhone or iPad. You don’t need to jailbreak your device to install this app. However, for iPad with M1 or M2 chip, you do need to enable Developer Mode to run the uYouPlus app.

Watch YouTube without Ads on TV

Some TVs have some problems with YouTube, especially those without Google Service. Fortunately, there is open-source software dedicated to solving this problem and blocking all YouTube ads.

Previously, I found YouTube for TV APK that works on Android TV without Google Service, but that does not allow me to log in to my YouTube account. After a few searches, I found this SmartTube Next that works even better than I expected.

You can download it from Github. Once installed on your Android TV, you sign in using a web browser on a phone or PC. As you see from the screenshot, go to youtube.com/activate and then enter the code displayed on your TV. Viola, you can now check videos from your subscribed channels and your liked videos.

The video ads are automatically blocked. I have been using it for a few months now and I have not seen a single ad from YouTube. What’s more, the search feature is so great that I usually don’t need to use my Bluetooth keyboard.

Watch YouTube without Ads via this URL

You can also change the URL to watch YouTube videos without ad interruption. To be specific, go to the web page and enter the URL to any YouTube video to start watching. It allows you to watch YouTube videos without ads in 1 hour without signing in. If you like how it works, you can create a free account to watch forever.

Conclusion

These are all 6 methods to watch YouTube videos without ads. Obviously, the best way to enjoy YouTube videos without ads is YouTube Red Subscription. It is really a nice deal because it comes with YouTube Music. Hope you find something helpful in this article.
