5 Ways to ByPass YouTube Age Restriction in 2024

According to YouTube Community Guidelines, Age-restricted YouTube videos are not viewable to users who are under 18 years old or signed out. Lots of people watch YouTube videos without logging in or they don’t even have a YouTube account. If that’s your case, you can read on to bypass YouTube age-restricted videos in 5 different methods.

Tampermonkey Script

If you often use your web browser to watch YouTube age verification, then I recommend you use a custom user script. To run this script, you can use the Tampermonkey extension, which is available in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. You can refer to the steps below to see how it works. 

Step 1. Install the Tampermonkey extension for your web browser. 

Step 2. Add “Simple-YouTube-Age-Restriction-Bypass.user.js” by clicking this link.

Step 3. Go to YouTube to watch any age-restricted video, which will be unlocked automatically. 

As you can see from the screenshot, I didn’t sign in to YouTube and the video is age-restricted. If you enable the Tampermonkey extension in private mode, you can also watch age-restricted videos without logging in.

FreeTube for Desktop

For desktop users, you can use a dedicated open-source program, FreeTube, to bypass YouTube age restrictions. FreeTube is a desktop YouTube player that allows you to play YouTube videos without ads or an account. It is available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. 

Within FreeTube, you can import Youtube subscriptions and subscribe to new channels without an account. FreeTube cares about your privacy since all the data are stored locally. You can search or paste the video URL to load the video that you want to watch. 

In addition, FreeTube allows you to download YouTube videos that you can watch and it offers all bit rate and frame rate options. By the way, you cannot use FreeTube to watch or download private YouTube videos. 

Age Restriction Bypass for YouTube Extension

The Age Restriction Bypass for YouTube extension is a handy tool that helps users bypass age restrictions on YouTube videos. If a user encounters a video that is age-restricted and requires the user to confirm their age, this extension can automatically skip the age verification check.

You can get this extension from Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Once installed, it runs in the background without needing any additional configuration. Whenever a user attempts to view an age-restricted video on YouTube, the extension automatically bypasses the age verification check and allows the user to view the content without any restrictions.

NewPie for Android

NewPPie is similar to FreeTube but for Android only. It lets you watch age-restricted YouTube videos without ads. However, it is not available in the Google Play Store, so you’ll have to install it through APK. You can download NewPie from its official website or Github since it is also an open-source app. Be sure to get the latest version, otherwise, it may not work.

Similarly, you can import all your YouTube subscription info and download age-restricted videos without logging in. The playlist feature works as it should.

YouTube ++ Shortcut for iPhone or iPad

Updates in 2023: To watch age-restricted YouTube videos on iPhone, you can install a Safari extension, Stay and add the script, Simple-YouTube-Age-Restriction-Bypass, which is addressed in method 1. You can read my previous posts about usingTampermonkey scripts on iPhone.

For iOS users, you can also get my YouTube++ shortcut to turn off YouTube Age Restriction.  To watch an age-restricted video, you just copy the video URL and run the shortcut. It will load the age-restricted video without question. Alternatively, you can also run this shortcut from YouTube share sheet.

On the playback screen, you can also tap to play YouTube videos in picture in picture mode and adjust the size of the PIP screen.

Besides the YouTube ++ shortcut, I also make a shortcut to watch and download YouTube age-restricted videos without logging in. It is available in the Shortcuts app and YouTube app share sheet. When the video is loaded, you can choose to play the video or save it to your photos library.

Bunos Download YouTube Age Restricted Videos

If you want to download YouTube age-restricted videos, I recommend using ByClick Downloader. To be clear, this tool cannot bypass YouTube Age Restriction. You need to log in to YouTube on Chrome and allow byClick Downloader to access your Google Chrome credentials in Options > Accounts tab.

You just need to paste the URL of the age-restricted video into this downloader and then choose the video frame rate. If you choose a quality above 1080P, this tool will take a little more time to combine the video and audio since YouTube audio and video are saved separately on high-quality YouTube videos. 

However, ByClick Downloader is only available on Windows. If you use Mac, then I recommend 4K Video Downloader.
