As a scheme to control access to copyrighted material, DRM protection has a huge impact on those who paid the subscription fee. Luckily, there are some great tools to remove DRM protection. In this article, I will show you 2 open-source programs to download music from Qobuz to FLAC, thanks to the developers who have contributed to Qo-DL Reborn and Chimera.

Previously, I have written a post about downloading music from Tidal. I have heard that Qobuz has more high-res quality tracks, so I have switched to Qobuz.

Open Source Qobuz Downloader

Qobuz-DL reborn has been taken down. Luckily, someone else has released a new Qobuz-dl for downloading lossless and Hi-Res music from Qobuz. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It enables you to download music directly from Qobuz. You can input links to Qobuz tracks, albums, artists, playlists, etc.

You can run it from Windows command prompt or macOS terminal. If you want a GUI Qobuz Downloader, you can check the other 2 methods.

Qobuz-DL

Step 1. Download Install the latest version of Python3. While installing Python on Windows, check the option “add Python to path”.

Step 2. Based on the operating system you use, choose the command below to install Qobuz-dl.

For Linux / MAC OS

pip3 install --upgrade qobuz-dl

For Windows

pip3 install windows-curses

pip3 install --upgrade qobuz-dl

Step 3. Type the “qobuz-dl dl” along with Qobuz URL to rip music from Qobuz.

qobuz-dl.exe dl https://play.qobuz.com/playlist/5388296 -q 27

How to Use Qobuz Downloader X – GUI

There is another open source program called Qobuz Downloader X (QBDLX), which was inspired by Qo-DL, to help paid users download music from Qobuz.

Instead of a command prompt, QBDLX comes with a concise interface. No configuration process is required. You can simply input a Qobuz URL and the program will download all the tracks. Supported link type: album, artist, favorited albums, favorited tracks, label, playlist, and track. Sounds good? Refer to the steps below to see how it works.

Step 1. Download QBDLX. When I ran it, Windows Security detected threats and deleted it, so be informed.

Step 2. Open the DBDLX program and input your Qobuz email and password to log in.

Step 3. Now you can paste a track link, playlist link, and any link to download tracks from Qobuz as FLAC.

You can also watch the video embedded to see how it works.

Use Allavsoft to Download Qobuz High-Quality Music

Allavsoft

If you want a GUI tool to download music from Qobuz, then Allavsoft is your best choice. No setup required. You just download this program and paste the Qobuz link to start downloading. As with the previous 2 methods, you still need Qobuz subscription to download music.

After you paste the Qobuz track, album, or playlist link into Allavsoft, the program will ask your login info and then start downloading all tracks from the link. By default, the program will download the best quality available, the hi-res quality, and save in FLAC. You can change the settings to automatically convert the FLAC to ALAC or other compatible formats.

Qobuz Track Downloader Shortcut for iOS or Mac

Previously, I shared a Spotify to MP3 shortcut. Now, I have created a Qobuz Track Downloader shortcut. You can use it to download music from Qobuz to FLAC on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. You can copy a URL to Qobuz track to run this shortcut or run it from Qobuz share sheet.

Unlike other methods, you don’t need a Qobuz premium account to download music with this shortcut. It only downloads the audio with metadata but without a correct filename. You can refer to the video below to see how it works.

If you like it, you can subscribe to our premium plan to get it along with other premium content.

If you don’t receive it after payment, please contact us and we will send it as soon as we see it.

Use Chimera to Download Qobuz Music

Updated: Unfortunately, Chimera has been taken down, but you can still find other ways to download it.

Chimera is a multi-source music downloader that allows you to download music from Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, Tidal, Napster, Google Play Music, and SoundCloud. Previously, I have written a post about how to set up Chimera, so in this post, I will show you how to configure it for downloading Qobuz music. You can also refer to the video guide below.

Step 1. Type “python main.py” to run Chimera.

Step 2. Type “setup chimera” to go to the Chimera configuration page.

Step 3. Go to the Qobuz section and input your email and password. All enter the App ID and Secret as below:

App ID: 579169010

App Secret: e28e9f3d71d274a605693111477d4fe2

Chimera Downloader

If you can get your own app id and secret key, be sure to use your own ones.

Step 4. Restart Chimera and type “qobuz”. If you have not included Qobuz in the Auto-Login Services, you need to also type “login”.

Step 5. Type “grab track [track ID]” to download any track from Qobuz. If you want to download Qobuz playlist, then use “grab playlist” instead.

Conclusion

As you can see, Chimera is more complicated to set it up than Qo-Dl Reborn, but you can use it to download music from multiple sources.

Allavsoft is kind of like the GUI version of Chimera with Converter and Player features. If you also want to download music from Deezer, Spotify, and SoundCloud, then I highly recommend Allavsoft.

  1. Nobody worth noticing:

Was your Allavsoft problem above resolved? I am having the exact same problem. Allavsoft was working fine with Qobuz, then – from out of nowhere – Allavsoft stopped working and I encountered the exact same problem you did. If this was resolved for you, do you recall HOW it was fixed? At this point, I’m desperate to get it back up and running. I am NOT tech savvy, so I hope there’s an easy “fix.” Thanks in advance for any input. My best to you……

  2. Been having issues downloading from Qobuz with Allavsoft. It keeps prompting me for my username and password and after entering them (several times), still won’t download.

  3. It is amazing. Thank you so much for your share. I find Allavsoft not only downloads music from Qobuz, but also Spotify, Soundcloud etc. It is really great. So excited.

  4. The Qo-DL Reborn has been taken down by DMCA. The author might create another one. Until then, you can use the other tool, Chimera. I do have the files saved on my PC, but I have tested if it works because I no longer have Qobuz subscription.

  5. Good Day Sir! Can you please provide us another link to download the Qo-DL Reborn and its configuration files, it seems like the given link is not available anymore. Thanks
