When you try to share Apple Music songs to my Instagram as a story, you will probably see an error as the screenshot below. In this post, I will show you a workaround to share Apple Music songs to Instagram Story or Feed.
You can also add playable music to your Instagram Story. Read on to see how you can easily get it done no matter where you are.
Update to iOS 13.4.5 or Later to Fix It
Apple has released an update, iOS 13.4.5 or iPadOS 13.4.5, to fix this problem, so you can update your iPhone or iPad. Once you updated, you can share tracks from Apple Music to Instagram or Facebook story as you do that with Spotify. Your followers can copy the track link and open Apple Music to enjoy the music.
Update your iPhone or iPad to make sure you are running iOS 13.4.5 or later version. If you don’t want to install updates or you prefer running iOS 12, read on to find other workarounds.
Share Apple Music songs to Instagram Story with Siri Shortcuts
Shortcuts is an automation app provided by Apple. For iOS 12, you need to free download it from AppStore. If you are using iOS 13/14, it is pre-installed on your iPhone or iPad.
Once you see the Shortcuts app installed, you can get this shortcut Song to Instagram. This shortcut will get the current playing song from Apple Music and post it to Instagram. You can choose to post it as Instagram Story or Feed as you can see the video below.
Your friends can see the artwork and track info, but they cannot click to listen to the music. If you want to add music to your Instagram story, check the following methods.
If you find that you cannot add an untrusted shortcut, that’s because you have never added any shortcut or you just updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13 or 14. In that case, you can just create a new shortcut, drag any action to the shortcut and run it for the first time. After that, go to Settings > Shortcuts and toggle on the option Allow Untrusted Shortcuts. Then you can add this shortcut and other shortcuts to your shortcuts collection.
Add Music to Instagram Story with Music Sticker
The Instagram Story Music Sticker feature allows you to add playable tracks to your Instagram stories, which was released in June 2018. Due to copyright issues, this feature is only available in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, France, and Germany.
If you see the Instagram music sticker missing, you can use a VPN to work this around. After making sure your IP address is the available country, you can follow the steps below to add music to Instagram Story.
Step 1. Within Instagram app, tap on the camera icon on the top right to create a new Story.
Step 2. Tap on the Sticker and select “Music” sticker. In the next screen, you can scroll through a ton of tracks from all genres. Of course, you can also type a song name to search for the track you love to add to your story.
Step 3. Once you have chosen your track, you can manually set the duration of the music clip (15 seconds tops) for your story.
You can also change the style of the sticker if you want. When after sending it, your friends on Instagram can listen to the music you choose.
That’s how you can easily add music to the Instagram story. If you don’t see this Music sticker, just use a VPN app. You can find many free VPN apps from the Apple AppStore.
