As many prefer an online Twitch video downloader, I tested a few and find this UnTwitch website works great. Well, if the Twitch video is longer than 1 hour, you cannot download the whole video in one go with this tool. You can select the part you need to download or download twice or more times to save the entire video.
Twitch Downloader Chrome Extension
There is also a Chrome extension Video DownloadHelper that allows you to download full videos and clicks from Twitch with one click. It is also available for Mozilla Firefox. After installing this extension, you will see a download button on the video player control bar to allow you to quickly and easily download any anyTwitch video you want.
Besides Twitch, this extension also works for many websites like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. Due to Chrome Web Store policy, the Chrome version will not work for YouTube. If you want to download videos from YouTube, you can use Video DownloadHelper add-on for Firefox.
Download Twitch Video from CMD
YouTube-dl is a free tool that allows you to download videos from Twitch and other thousands of websites. Since it is discontinued, you can use yt-dlp instead, which is better.
It is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Let me show how it works on Windows PC. If you are using a Mac, you can refer to this post to configure it.
Step 1. Download the yt-dlp.exe file on your PC and move it to the User folder (C:\Users\YourName).
Step 2. Press Windows + R key and type “CMD” (without quotes) to open a command prompt, not elevated command prompt.
Step 3. Type “yt-dlp.exe [Twitch video URL you copied]” (without quotes) and press Enter. You need to replace the URL with the actual URL of the Twitch video that you want to download as the screenshot shows.
When the progress is complete, you can find the downloaded Twitch video from C:\Users\YourName where you saved the yt-dlp.exe.
It is also possible to use this open-source software to download full Twitch videos on iPhone or Android Store, but that will be a little bit complicated. For Android users, you can download Termux from Play Store to run yt-dlp on Android . For iOS users, A-Shell.
How to Download Twitch Clips without Any Software
If you only need to download a few Twitch clips, you need no tools but a web browser. You can follow the steps below to use one of the Chrome Developer Tools features to download Twitch clips easily.
Step 1. Go to the page of the Twitch video clip that you want to download.
Step 2. Press F12 to open Developer Tools. In the Developer Tools, click on the Network tab and select Media as the screenshot below.
Step 3. Play the video and then you should see the Twitch video clip MP4 file URL is listed. If you see nothing under the Media tab, refresh this page.
Step 4. Double click on the MP4 file URL to open it in a new tab. Then you can right click on the video and select Save video as…
Download Twitch Videos or Clips on iPhone
If you use iPhone to watch Twitch videos, you may want a Twitch video downloader to download videos. Luckily, that shouldn’t be a problem for you anymore because you can use the Shortcuts app to download Twitch full videos or clips to Camera Roll on iPhone.
Step 1. Free download the A-Shell or A-Shell Mini app from App Store.
Step 2. Get the yt-dlp shortcut from here. As mentioned, yt-dlp can easily download full Twitch stream videos and clips. This shortcut just makes it easy for you to run on iOS device.
Step 3. Copy the Twitch Video link or clip link and run this shortcut to get started. You can also tap the Share button from Twitch to run this shortcut from Share Sheet.
Step 4. When the downloading is complete, you can save the Twitch video clip on your iPhone Camera Roll or iCloud.
Alternatively, you can also run YT-DLP on iOS to download full Twitch streams on iPhone. As mentioned, yt-dlp can help you download video and audio from many websites.
Bonus: Download Twitch Video with Allavsoft
All the methods above work, but Allavsoft is my favorite. It is a paid tool, so I listed it as a bonus one. It is like YouTube-DL but has a GUI interface. Besides the sites supported by YouTube-DL, Allavsoft allows you to download music from Spotify and Deezer, download videos from Udemy, and Linkedin, and it allows you to convert the downloaded file to another format.
