Luckily, I have found one online tool that can parse the video from your browser and get the private video. The key is to log in to Instagram and open the private downloader from the same browser. Of course, the account you logged in should have access to the private video that you want to download.
Step 1. Log in to your Instagram account from your web browser. Since it is an online tool, you can do it on your iPhone, Android phone, PC, or any smart device with a web browser.
Step 2. Navigate to the private Instagram video that you want to download. Click the three dots button and select Go to Post. Now, you can copy the URL video from the browser address bar.
Step 3. Within the same web browser, visit this Instagram Private Downloader page and paste the URL into the URL box.
Step 4. Wait for the tool to bring you the video and then you can click the Download button to save your video to your computer or smartphone.
Since this requires you to paste the link to the video, it only works for post videos. You cannot use it to download a story video. If you want to download Instagram private story video, keep reading.

Step 1. Get this Instagram Download shortcut by opening the link in Safari. You may need to go to Settings > Shortcuts to Enable “Allow Untrusted Shortcuts” before you can add this shortcut to your iPhone or iPad.
Step 2. Log in to your Instagram account from Safari (It has to be Safari). Locate the video post that you want to download and go to the private post page.
Step 3. Tap on the Safari Share button and scroll download to select the Instagram Download shortcut. It may ask you to reload the page and try this shortcut again.
Step 4. Tap OK to allow the shortcut to access the video location and Photos library. Then you will get notified when the private is saved to your Photos library.
This shortcut can download photos and videos from Instagram posts, stories, IGTV and reels. Works with app and Safari, on iPhone and iPad. For private posts, you need to use Safari.
As mentioned, you need to install other apps for this shortcut to work. If you don’t want to install other apps, you may try this shortcut, An Ins Downloader. You can log in to Instagram on Safari and then run this shortcut from Share Sheet. It will add a Download button for Instagram posts.
Method 3: Android app for downloading private Instagram video
Insget is a dedicated app for downloading private content from Instagram. You can also add a few Instagram profiles there and the app will help you monitor their account for new content. Let me show you how to use it.
Step 1. Install this Insget app from Google Play Store.
Step 2. Within the app, go to the Settings section and log in to your Instagram account. This is only needed for downloading private content.
Step 3. Open the Instagram app and copy the link to the Instagram post that you want to download.
Step 4. Go back to this Downloader app. It will automatically detect the copied URL, and you can press Download to start downloading the content.
Method 4: Download Instagram video from a private account on PC
If you don’t want to use any online tools or software to download videos from Instagram private accounts, this one’s for you. You just need to use the Developer Tools from a web browser, Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. Firefox is recommended for this method by the way.
You can use it to download private videos from a regular post or story on Instagram. The steps are pretty much the same. I will show you how to download a private post video on Instagram as an example.
Step 1. Open your web browser on your computer and log in to your Instagram account. Go to the post of the video that you want to download. It is the same for a story video, but you need to stop playing the video in case it goes to the next story.
Step 2. Right click on a blank space and choose Inspect from the drop-down menu to open Developer Tools. You can also press F12 on Windows or Command + Option + I on a Mac.
Step 3. From the Developer Tools, click Network and then Media. Then it will list all the links to the video file that you want to download the video. If you want to download photos from a private account, just click “Img” instead of Media under Network tab.
Step 4. Open the link to the video in a new tab. From the new tab, you can right click and select “Save Video” to your PC. If somehow the downloadable link does not appear, you can reload this page.
As mentioned, Firefox works better for this method. When using Chrome, there may be nothing after you click Media. In that case, you can click on the All tab instead of Media. From there, you sort the file by size (from largest to smallest). The links to the video will probably appear in the top since video size is usually larger than other elements on the page.
