Normally, you need to save the phone number to your contacts before you can start a Whatsapp chat with him or her. In this post, I will show you 4 methods to send Whatsapp messages without saving contacts on iPhone or Android devices.
WhatsApp’s click to chat feature
WhatsApp provides a click to chat feature that allows you to start a chat with someone without saving their phone number in your phone’s address book. As long as you know the phone number, you can open your web browser to enter the click to chat link to start a new chat on Whatsapp Web or app.
The link format is like this:
https://wa.me/<number>
The <number> is a full phone number including area code but omit any zeroes, brackets, or dashes. If you want to add a pre-filled message, you can add the “text=urlencodedtext” parameter. For example, to include a message saying “How are you?”,refer to link below:
https://wa.me/1XXXXXXXXXX?text=how%20are%20you%3F
Once the link is loaded, you will get the web page with a big green Message icon on which you can tap to start a conversation without saving the number.
Click to Chat app
If you don’t want to type the URL every time, you can use an app, Click to chat, to speed things up. This Android app also use the wa.me links but in a more convenient way. Once you open the app, simply enter the phone number, tap a button to a begin a new chat in WhatsApp.
What’s more, this app allows you to enter message, share link, select a country code from a list, create shortcut, save recent and pinned, and a few more. Despite this many features, this app is only about 100MB in size.
You can use this app for free without ads. There is no need to worry about privacy because it only require the create_shortcut permission, nothing else! (no calls, no storage, no internet).
Online method
If you don’t want to download, you can use this online tool to send Whatsapp messages without saving contacts on Android or iOS. Once you open the web page, you can enter the phone number and start a new chat with Whatsapp Web or mobile app.
Besides, you can add it to your Home screen on your iPhone or Android phone, so you can quickly access it whenever you want.
Siri Shortcut for iPhone or iPad
In addition to the online method, iOS users can also use the Shortcuts app to start a new Whatsapp chat with unsaved Numbers. Apple has made the Shortcuts app a stock app since iOS 13, so you don’t have to install it.
To create a shortcut to message someone on WhatsApp without saving their number:
Step 1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad. Tap on the “+” icon to create a new one.
Step 2. Search for “whatsapp” and drag the action “Send Message via Whatsapp” onto the shortcut.
Step 3. Within the “Send Message via WhatsApp” action, you can enter the phone number. Alternatively, you can set the Recipient as your clipboard, so you can copy the phone number to run this shortcut.
Now, you can simply run this shortcut to start a new chat on Whatsapp without saving the phone number. Since the release of the Automation feature, you can also use Shortcuts to schedule text message on iPhone.
Conclusion
You can choose any of these 4 methods to send WhatsApp message without saving contacts on your iPhone or Android phone. If you only need to do this once in a long while, WhatsApp’s click to chat feature works great. Otherwise, I recommend the Click to Chat app for Android users and Shortcuts for iOS users.
