Many people myself included think it annoying to see podcasts all the time when you open Spotify app. In this post, I will show you how to block podcasts on Spotify. Whether you use the Spotify Desktop app or Spotify web player, you will find a way to block Spotify podcasts.
Block podcasts on the Spotify desktop app
SpotX is a modified Spotify Client for Windows that can block podcasts completely. In addition, it blocks all banner, video, and audio Ads, lifts skip restrictions, activates the full-screen mode, and more. Sounds good to you? You can follow the steps below to set it up on your Windows PC.
Step 1. Type “PowerShell” in the Windows Search box and select “Windows PowerShell” to launch it.
Step 2. Paste the following command and press Enter.

In a few seconds, it will ask you whether you want to disable Spotify Podcasts. Press “Y” to continue.
Step 4. Enter “Y” or “N” to complete the setup according to the instructions. Wait for the process to complete and then you can launch the Spotify app to enjoy music without Spotify podcasts.
If you don’t want to use the PowerShell method, you can also download the latest Install.bat file from Github and run it to complete the setup. If you don’t have the Spotify Desktop app installed, this will install it for you. When you ever want to see podcasts again, you can reinstall the Spotify app or simply run the uninstall.bat.
Note: This will not work if you install the Spotify app from Microsoft Store.
Remove podcasts on Spotify Web Player
If you prefer using Spotify Web Player, you can use a Tampermonkey script to hide Spotify podcasts recommendations. Tampermonkey is an extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, etc. If you have it installed, you can simply get the script, Hide Podcast Recommendations, to get started.
If you want, you can also run Tampermonkey scripts on Android or iPhone. Once this script is activated, it will automatically hide Podcasts from the Spotify homepage. You will see still podcasts when you go to the Spotify Web Player homepage, and then the podcast recommendations will be gone after 1 second or so.
Vote for an option to disable Podcasts
I really hope Spotify someday will release an update that we can choose to disable Spotify Podcasts within the app. If you share the same thoughts, you can vote it here.
